Popular music label T-Series has reportedly paid a whopping ₹36 crore to procure the music rights of director Atlee’s upcoming film Jawan. The movie features Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara in the lead.
Rumour mills are agog that fierce competition ensued for the audio rights of the film as several major players vied for the deal. However, T-Series’s astronomical bid helped the music label clinch the deal.
Sources close to the unit claim that the jaw-dropping ₹36-crore deal for the music rights of Jawan is unprecedented and that it has shattered all previous records in the industry.
The film evoked huge expectations as it not only features Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara but also Vijay Sethupathi in a significant role.
It is touted to be an explosive action thriller and is scheduled to release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Jawan, which was originally slated for release in June, is now scheduled for 7 September.

It may be recalled that Shah Rukh spent a month in Chennai to shoot for Jawan.
In fact, director Atlee went on to thank the Bollywood superstar for having the 30-day schedule of Jawan in Chennai, which resulted in thousands of families from the city standing to benefit from the move.
Atlee, taking to social media, had then said: “Thank you sir! It’s an honour and a pleasure to have you here. Most memorable schedule in my career. Special thanks to you for having the shoot happen in Chennai, sir. Thousands of families benefitted. ‘King is a king always’ — a big bow and respect to you sir. Love you sir. See you in Mumbai.”
Shah Rukh Khan, while finishing his work for Jawan in Chennai, wrote: “What a 30-day blast RCE team! Thalaivar blessed our sets… Saw the movie with Nayanthara. Partied with Anirudh, (held) deep discussions with Vijay Sethupathy. And Thalapathy Vijay fed me delicious food. Thanks, Atlee and Priya, for your hospitality. Now, need to learn the Chicken 65 recipe!”
