It is evident why producers are scurrying to release their films on Ganesh immersion day, 28 September.
The idea could be obvious that the great weekend would eventually bring them good returns. But the purpose wouldn’t serve if too many films fight for the same date.
Ram Potheni’s Skanda and Raghava Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2 have changed their release dates.
They’re supposed to release their films this weekend, on 15 September. However, the makers pushed the dates to 28 September — which coincides with Ganesh immersion day when the final ritual takes place after the 10-day celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Thus, a weekend has been wasted with no movies getting released in theatres.
In a way, it fetches well for Naveen Polishetty’s Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty as audiences would have no option left but to watch it.
Of late, the news about the shuffling of release dates has hit the headlines. The postponement of Prabhas-starrer Salaar stoked a debate among fans on social media.
Meanwhile, it is doubtful that Chandramukhi 2 could catch up with the release date.
Following the poor response to the trailer, the makers have become cautious about releasing it without any hiccups. It is learnt that the visual effects part is still pending.
Written and directed by P Vasu, Chandramukhi 2 has originally been made in Tamil and will be released in the Telugu States with the dubbed version.
Following the massive reception that Chandramukhi (2005) received, there have been massive expectations for the second part from audiences from all regions.
Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions, the film is a sequel to Chandramukhi (2005). It stars Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut in the titular role along with Raghava Lawrence, Mahima Nambiar, Lakshmi Menon, Vadivelu, Srushti Dange, Raadhika Sarathkumar, YG Mahendran, and Ravi Mariya in supporting roles.
