Shah Rukh Khan’s supposedly objectionable comments on South Indian celebrity Ram Charan have sparked several discussions and debates on social media.

During the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani, Shah Rukh invited Telugu star Ram Charan onto the stage.

The viral video where they danced alongside Aamir Khan and Salman Khan to the tune of “Naatu Naatu” song went viral on social media.

However, the Instagram story by Upasana’s personal makeup artist Zeba Hassan stirred controversy.

She alleged that Shah Rukh addressed Ram Charan with derogatory terms like “Bhendi, Idli, and Vada”, thus offending the Telugu actor.

This sparked a widespread debate on social media since Monday, 4 March.

The words spoken by Shah Rukh Khan in the video were unclear due to the poor recording quality of the phone camera. While “Idli” was heard, the context remains ambiguous.

Meanwhile, Ram Charan’s fans argued that such comments are inappropriate regardless of their intentions.

They also took serious objection to the remarks made by the Bollywood star.

However, Shah Rukh’s fans defended him by saying Bollywood Badshah mouthed similar terms in the movie One 2 Ka 4 (2001) in a different context. They pointed out the actor’s dialogue in the film where he used words like “Idli, Vada, Rajani, Kamal, Venky, Nag.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s fans also stated that he didn’t mean to mock Ram Charan by saying “Idli” or “Vada.”

Some opined that Shah Rukh should not have made such remarks on such a prominent stage, even in jest.

Some felt that one’s speech and actions must be cautious when millions of cameras are recording, to avoid unnecessary controversies.
