  • Director: Pavan Wadeyar
  • Producer: C R Manohar

Director Pavan Wadeyar’s Raymo is a romantic tale of wannabe successful singers. There have been quite a few films with a similar plot in other languages, popular ones being Aashiqui, and Akele Hum Akele Tum in Hindi.

But what Pavan Wadeyar does here is to provide a unique touch while keeping the soul of the genre intact, to suit the image of the newcomer Ishaan.

He has also cashed in on Ashika Ranganath’s full-on acting skills which have remained untapped until now.

This being the home banner production for Ishaan, which also marks his second outing as an actor, the richness and grandeur in the making is the biggest highlight.

Every scene is packed to the maximum: From lavish sets to foreign locations, from the costumes to the post-production works.

Raymo is all about Revanth (portrayed by Ishaan) and Mohana (Ashika) who fall in love but are soon separated due to misunderstandings.

This, in turn, leads to Mohana avenging her boyfriend by reaching his status in terms of money and fame in society.

Ashika Ranganath is here to stay

The first part as usual establishes the characters — Revanth, the son of a rich father, is a fun-loving, free-spirited guy who hates his father to the core and lives life on his own terms.

Things change with Mohana making her way into his life, and the rest is a lengthy story till it hits the climax.

Then, there is a humanitarian act in the middle which is what makes Revanth-Mohana (Raymo) take a serious turn in the saga.

It is Ashika who shines with a full-fledged meaty role, unlike her previous ones. Earlier, she was limited to being the glamour quotient in commercial ventures of star-hero films.

Ishan still needs a bit of polishing but is certainly much better compared to his debut venture Rogue.

A decent entertainer

Music being the other biggest part of this romantic drama, Arjun Janya does deliver a few good numbers which go well with the flow of the movie.

Though the package looks very attractive, the actual content and the quality of performances presented in it make Raymo an average experience that runs for a little over two-and-a-half hours.

If you are a fan of love stories laced with good music, then Raymo offers decent entertainment.
