Megastar Chiranjeevi, who attended the grandiose launching ceremony, sounded the clapboard for the muhurat shot for Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor.

Producer Allu Aravind handed over the script, while Janhvi’s producer-father Boney Kapoor switched on the camera.

Ace director Shankar did the honourary direction for the first shot.

Rahman, who is part of this magnum opus, also attended the ceremony.

Sukumar feels proud of his protégé

At the event, director Buchi Babu expressed his gratitude to everyone, including Megastar Chiranjeevi and his mentor Sukumar.

He highlighted his journey from being an assistant director for Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam (2018).

Buchi Babu also stated that his dream of working with music legend AR Rahman was fulfilled in his second film (RC16).

Director Sukumar described his relationship with Buchi Babu Sana as that of a mentor. He jokingly mentioned that he only taught him (Buchi Babu) Mathematics and Buchi didn’t learn anything else from him.

The Pushpa director expressed surprise at Buchi Babu Sana’s choice to cast Vijay Sethupathi for the villain’s role in Uppena and subsequently, selecting Ram Charan for his next project.

Further, Sukumar noted that Buchi Babu’s confidence in the subject and diligent work ethic impressed him. He added that Ram Charan approved the project after hearing the story.

3 tunes finalised already: Rahman

Congratulating the team, AR Rahman commented, “As Sukumar garu mentioned, Buchi Babu is eccentric, yet his taste is exceptional. He presented me with a folder containing five different song situations. His enthusiasm is truly great. We’ve already finalised three tunes.”

Addressing the guests, Ram Charan said, “The opportunity to work with Janhvi Kapoor in a film of this scale brings back the memories of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari.”

Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990) was a career-defining film in the careers of both Chiranjeevi and Sridevi.

Ram Charan also remarked that Buchi Babu was truly passionate about cinema, just as AR Rahman garu mentioned.

“When Sukumar garu was busy with other works during the making of Rangasthalam, Buchi Babu dedicated 2 hours daily for 200 days to give story narration on the sets of Rangasthalam. It’s a pleasure working with Sukumar’s top protege. Collaborating with AR Rahman is a dream come true,” he added.
