Team Baahubali: Crown of Blood

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is quite excited to be part of the animated series, Baahubali: Crown of Blood. He says he believed Kattappa taking on Baahubali was a novel thought.

The director was addressing the media in Hyderabad on Tuesday, 7 May.

Baahubali: Crown of Blood will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar from 17 May. It is based on Rajamouli’s Baahubali film series (2015 & 2017).

The animated series is directed by Jeevan J Kang and Navin John.

SS Rajamouli, Shobu Yarlagadda, and Sharad Devarajan produced it.

Baahubali: Crown of Blood takes audiences back to the world of Mahishmati, where Baahubali and Bhallaladeva — the two rivals, join hands to protect their kingdom against the threat from the Kalakeya tribe.

‘Animation industry has huge potential’

Explaining how the animation industry is growing with leaps and bounds, Rajamouli said for a long time, it was misconstrued that animation was meant for children. “However, the animation industry has great potential if the right stories are told. The good fanbase for Japanese animation series in Hyderabad suggests that entertainment doesn’t necessarily be only films,” he felt.

“Storytelling mediums such as gaming, books, novels and comics are equally important. A section of audiences exclusively watch animation shows. And, this hints that animation has immense potential in the entertainment industry,” he remarked.

When asked about the criticism the director has been facing regarding the balance of roles in the movie RRR (2022), Rajamouli refused to comment stating that it wasn’t the appropriate time or place.

Even though RRR was a great success, fans felt that Jr NTR’s role was not as strong as compared to Ram Charan’s. There has been an incessant discussion on social media over the topic.

The ace filmmaker also revealed that Baahubali 3 is on the cards. “It will happen. I planned to make Baahubali 3 after RRR but it got delayed due to some reason. However, we are discussing with Prabhas,” Rajamouli added.
