Gnanavel Raja tenders apology to Ameer

Well-known producer Gnanavel Raja, who has been locked in a grim legal tussle with director Ameer over their film Paruthiveeran for the last 17 years, has tendered an unconditional apology to Ameer for some of his recent words which might have hurt the director.

In a statement released in Tamil on Wednesday, 29 November, Gnanavel Raja said, “The Paruthiveeran problem has been going on for the last 17 years. However, until this point, I have never spoken about it. I have only referred to him as ‘Ameer Anna’. I am close to Ameer and his entire family from the beginning.”

Gnanavel Raja pointed out that Ameer’s allegations had hurt him. “Some of Ameer’s false allegations against me in recent interviews had hurt me a lot, Gnanavel Raja said.

“If some of the words that I used while responding to those allegations had hurt him, I wholeheartedly apologise for it,” the producer said, adding that he was immensely respected in the film industry and all those who were a part of it.

Gnanavel Raja’s apology comes in the wake of several film actors and directors expressing support for Ameer.

On Tuesday, 28 November, director Karu Pazhaniappan and director Bharathiraja supported Ameer in his stand-off with producer Gnanavel Raja.

Interestingly, filmmaker Sudha Kongara and actor-directors Sasikumar and Samuthirakani also supported Ameer.
