Sasikumar Gnanavel Raja apology

The Paruthiveeran controversy refuses to come to an end despite producer Gnanavel Raja tendering an unconditional apology to director Ameer on Wednesday, 29 November.

Actor, director, and producer Sasikumar, a close confidante of Ameer, has responded to Gnanavel Raja’s apology to Ameer calling it fake.

In his statement in Tamil, Sasikumar has fired a number of questions at Gnanavel Raja.

Sasikumar calls apology fake

Citing Gnanavel Raja’s statement that he had been angered by false allegations levelled by Ameer, Sasikumar asked, “What are the false allegations that Ameer anna had levelled against Gnanavel Raja?”

The director-actor also pointed out that producer Gnanavel had himself said, “If some of the words that I had used had hurt (Ameer)” and asked what were those hurtful words he uttered.

“What kind of an apology is it when someone plans and insults someone and then apologises by oneself? What does Gnanavel Raja intend to tell Ameer Anna through all of this? To whom has Gnanavel Raja written that nameless letter?” he asked.

Background on the issue

On Wednesday morning, 29 November, Gnanavel Raja, who has been locked in a grim legal tussle with director Ameer over their film Paruthiveeran for the last 17 years, tendered an unconditional apology to Ameer for some of his recent words, which he claimed might have hurt the director.

Gnanavel’s apology came in the wake of a number of film actors and directors expressing support for Ameer.

On Tuesday, 28 November, director Karu Pazhaniappan and Director Bharathiraja expressed support for Ameer in his stand-off with Producer Gnanavel Raja.

Interestingly, prior to that, actor-directors Sasikumar and Samuthirakani and director Sudha Kongara had also issued statements supporting Ameer.
