Renowned composer-singer MM Keeravani has rendered his voice for an emotional number “Hathurina Deepa” for the upcoming Kannada movie Rangasamudra.

The Oscar-winning composer has a close connection with Bengaluru.

The composer of the song “Naatu Naatu”  from /(2022), for which he won the Academy Award, shared a few memories of the city with the Rangasamudra team.

Keeravani revealed that he stayed in a rented room in Bengaluru during his initial days as a musician and frequently travelled to the prestigious Chamundeshwari Studios.

Rangasamudra director Rajkumar Aski said they approached Keeravani as the producer wished to get him to sing a song for the film.

Eventually, when the entire team, including Rangasamudra music director Desi Mohan, reached out to Keeravani, the latter agreed to their request within five minutes after the story narration.

He told them that popular Kannada actor Doddanna is his close friend. Later, he invited the Rangasamudra team to Hyderabad where the song was recorded.

Keeravani appreciated the lyrics penned by Vagesh Chennagiri and composer Desi Mohan. He told the makers that he would watch the film along with SS Rajamouli.

The composer-singer also got emotional upon learning that Kannada superstar late Dr Puneeth Rajkumar was to act in Rangasamudra.
