'Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai' to hit screens in March
Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and Tamil director Ram have come together for their upcoming film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai.
The film premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and has already garnered appreciation from the international audience.
Ram is known for making films like Kattradhu Thamizh (2007), Thanga Meengal (2013), and Taramani (2017).
A year after its worldwide premiere, the film is finally gearing up for a release in India. The makers have recently released a trailer for Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai and also announced that the film will be released in March 2025. A definite date is not yet known.
Nivin Pauly, Anjali, and Soori play the lead roles in the movie. Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. NK Ekhambram is the cinematographer. Suresh Kamatchi produced it under the banner of V House Productions.
This is Nivin Pauly’s second Tamil film after his Richie (2017), a failure at the box office.
Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai is touted to be a psychological romantic thriller.
Anna Wabeke, the Head of Communications at the IFFR, appreciated Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai at the festival in January 2024, when it premiered. Wabeke described the project as a true gem of Tamil cinema and felt that it deserves a big screen watch. She also stated that the movie was moving, funny, and exciting.
The new trailer shows Soori as an ordinary man on a train, where he encounters an unusual character played by Nivin Pauly. Described as immortal, Nivin Pauly’s character appears to take control of Soori’s life within the train, which is revealed to be a time capsule. The trailer also offers glimpses of Anjali and other characters, including a baby and a rat, set in both period and contemporary contexts.
