Here’s why Nani’s ‘Hi Nanna’ is being released as ‘Hi Nanna’ in all South Indian languages

However, Telugu actor Nani’s upcoming film Hi Nanna, which roughly translates to “Hi Father” in English, has been titled Hi Nanna across all four South Indian languages. The film will hit the screens on 7 December.

But, in Hindi, it has been titled Hi Pappa.

Wanted a single hashtag for Hi Nanna: Nani

Wondering what’s the logic behind having a common title for all South Indian languages and a different one for Hindi.

Well, Natural Star Nani explains that it is done to facilitate the audience to follow the movie with a single hashtag in the present digital era.

“Also, we thought this makes it easy to search the name of the film without any confusion — especially while booking the tickets online — and also to check the reviews,” he adds.

Nani reveals that the characters played by Mrunal Thakur and the kid refer to him as “Nanna” in the film. Since there is so much lip-sync to be done, the team decided to retain a common title for the movie in South India.

Citing the Kannada blockbuster Kantara, the Telugu actor hoped that the Kannada audience would understand the practical reasons behind the title being the same as in other South Indian languages.

However, the title of the movie has been changed to Hi Pappa since “Nanna” in Hindi means grandfather!

Directed by Shouryuv, Hi Nanna talks about the universal topic — the bond between a daughter and a father.

Nani’s love for Bengaluru

Nani was in Bengaluru on Tuesday, 5 December, to promote his movie.

“It is always amazing to be in Bengaluru. I met Ravichandran sir last time and today, I met Shiva Rajkumar sir. There is so much love and warmth attached to Bengaluru. I feel this city is one such place for someone living in Chennai, Hyderabad, or even Cochin that they can easily relate to from outside their state,” the Natural Star quipped.

While the Telugu actor has a bunch of friends in Bengaluru, he pointed out that people from every corner of the country live in this wonderful city.

“This is why movies of different languages are accepted and appreciated in Karnataka,” Nani added.

Nani apologies

Earlier, at a promotional event held in Visakhapatnam, the actor apologised for a blunder committed during the event.

The vacation photographs of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna were displayed for a brief moment before being pulled down by the organisers.

Soon, Nani apologised for the blunder.
