Mohanlal's Devadoothan to re-release soon

After Spadikam (1995), another Mohanlal movie is gearing up for a re-release — Devadoothan (2000).

According to director Siby Malayil, an edited remastered version of the movie with 4K Dolby Atmos sound technology will hit the theatres soon.

Siby revealed the news on his social media handles on Saturday, 20 April. His post read: “Devadhoothan remastered (edited)4K Atmos version getting ready”.

However, details like how many theatres Devadoothan will be re-released in are yet to be known.

Siyad Koker produced Devadoothan under the banner of Koker’s Films. The songs, composed by Vidyasagar, are still the favourites of music enthusiasts.

Interestingly, Devadoothan wasn’t a commercial success but received cult status after many years of its theatrical release.

Siby Malayil’s Devadoothan was a flop upon its release in 2000. The director revealed that he went into depression after the movie tanked at the box office.

Siby Malayil also stated that Mohanlal heard the story through its producer and wanted to do it.

But Siby had a different plan. He wanted to do the film with youngsters. However, owing to the pressure from the producer, the director did the flik with Mohanlal in the lead.

Mohanlal and Jayapradha played the lead roles in Devadoothan. Jagathy Sreekumar, Murali, and Janardhanan appeared in supporting roles.

Now, let’s wait to see if the re-release of Devadoothan will work wonders this time!
