Manjummel Boys to premiere on disney+ Hotstar

The Malayalam blockbuster movie Manjummel Boys will make its OTT debut on Disney+ Hotstar soon.

Disney+ Hotstar has announced this on its social media handles. Its post read: “The boys are coming soon on Disney+ Hotstar.”

Though the official date is yet to be announced, it is speculated that the film will be premiered on 3 May.

The sensational hit had a successful theatrical run in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and the two Telugu states.

On 19 March, the film created history by grossing over ₹200 crore worldwide, the first-ever achievement for a Malayalam flick. Thus, it became the highest-grossing movie in Malayalam by surpassing the record of 2018: Everyone is A Hero (2023).

Manjummel Boys had an eventful run in Tamil Nadu. It grossed ₹60 crore in the state, thus creating an all-time record. The team met Superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan after they watched the flick.

The Malayalam film also collected over ₹19 crore from all the states it was released.

It also won rave reviews in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Mythri Movie Makers distributed it in the Telugu-speaking states.

Manjummel Boys is about a group of 11 friends who visit the Guna Caves in Kodaikanal. One of them falls into a deep pit in the caves and is rescued by others with the help of the local administration. The film is inspired by a real-life incident.

Director Chidambaram said the crew had a tough time filming the scenes in the Guna Caves.

He disclosed that venturing into and out of the caves was a fatal task they had to attempt daily because the tourist place was dark and slippery with deep pits everywhere.

While some sequences were shot in the original Guna Caves, the rest were filmed in a massive set created in a godown in Perumbavoor by art director Ajayan Chalissery.

Parava Films and Sree Gokulam Films produced Manjummel Boys.

Sushin Shyam’s music was a major highlight of the flick.
