Mammootty’s latest release, Kaathal-The Core, is getting an overwhelming response from critics and audiences alike.
The Malayalam movie has become a hot topic in the industry as it deals with homosexuality — a less discussed subject in mainstream films.
Mammootty is also being appreciated for portraying the role of a homosexual man by keeping away his superstar status.
Actors from across industries are raving about Mammootty and the film which left them speechless with its daring and thought-provoking content.
South Indian actress Samantha Prabhu was one of the first actors to comment on Kaathal-The Core. In her Instagram post, the actor termed Kaathal the “movie of the year”.
She wrote, “Mammootty Sir, you are my hero, I will not be able to get over this performance for a long time”. The actress appreciated Jyothika who played the role of Mammootty’s wife in the movie.
Tamil actor Suriya has been waiting for a long time to watch the movie in theatres, his actor-wife Jyothika said during a promotional press meet.
After watching it, Suriya said Kaathal is a progressive film and lauded Mammootty for his love for good cinema and inspiration. Appreciating director Jeo Baby, Suriya said, “Even the silent shots spoke volumes.”
About his wife Jyothika, who appeared as Omana, he wrote that the character won everybody’s hearts and showed what love can be.

After watching Kaathal-The Core, Dulquer Salmaan, the actor-son of Mammootty, shared an Instagram story where he wrote: “Heart is Full.”
Actor Aishwarya Lekshmi wrote, “Mammootty continued to amaze, I felt the pain, the loneliness, the fear, the weight of the decisions you had to take and every single look tugged at my heart.”
Similarly, Malayalam actors Dev Mohan and Fara Shibla appreciated the film by saying it was a “masterpiece” and a “must-watch”.
Telugu actor Nani also shared some good words about the film.
“I have heard amazing responses to the movie. I am looking forward to watching the movie. I love Mammootty sir,” Telugu actor Nani said, at a press conference in Kochi on Sunday, 27 November, where he promoted his forthcoming flick movie Hi Nanna.”
Even though Kaathal-The Core movie has a serious subject, the collection for the movie at the box office is good.
The film, despite not having elements of a commercial entertainer, is witnessing good footfalls in theatre. The word-of-mouth response is evidently helping it.
Meanwhile, as per trade analysts, Kaathal collected around ₹ 5.3 to ₹5.5 crore in Kerala and around ₹1 crore in the rest of India in four days.
However, it didn’t get a censor in Kuwait and Bahrain due to its sensitive content.
