Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi is overjoyed after securing a magnificent victory in Kerala’s Thrissur constituency in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The actor has been active in politics for some time. But he has also been busy with films.
His previous film Garudan (2023) was a hit venture. He played impressive roles in Varane Aavashyamund (2020), Kaaval (2021), Paappan (2022), and Mein Hoon Moosa (2023).
Meanwhile, rumours were agog that Mammootty and Suresh Gopi would share the screen in director Mahesh Narayanan’s untitled movie.
During a media interaction in Kerala on Wednesday, 5 June, Suresh Gopi confirmed the project.
The senior actor revealed that he would collaborate with Mammootty for Mahesh Narayanan’s film. It will be produced by Mammootty’s home banner Mammootty Kampany.
“I have already received a call from the makers about the shooting schedule. My upcoming film with Mammootty will go on the floors in August,” he said.
Suresh Gopi also stated that he would continue to act in films, though “he is not sure about the quantity”.
The veteran Malayalam actor added, “I would make money through films and give away to the needy.”
Mammootty and Suresh Gopi were last seen together in Twenty Twenty (2008) and King and Commissioner (2012).
Their terrific on-screen combination worked wonders in both films. As a result, the forthcoming Malayalam movie is drawing huge anticipation from fans and movie enthusiasts.
Mahesh Narayanan’s forthcoming movie also features Kunchako Boban and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles.
This is the first time Mammootty Kampany is casting other actors (besides Mammootty) in the lead in its project.
The yet-untitled movie marks the sixth production venture of the banner.
Its previous works include Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam (2022), Rorschach (2022), Kannur Squad (2023), Kaathal-The Core (2023) and Turbo (2024).
Turbo was a super hit and grossed over ₹70 crore at the global box office.
Meanwhile, Suresh Gopi is busy with Varaham, directed by Sanal V Devan. He is also part of JSK and SG251.
Director Mahesh Narayanan is popular for his critically acclaimed films, Malik (2021; headlined by Fahadh Faasil) and Ariyippu (2022; starring Kuchacko Boban).
