Thekku Vadakku teaser out

The interesting second teaser of Thekku Vadakku, featuring Vinayakan and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles, has caught the fancy of the Malayalee audience.

The teaser showcased the actors as senior citizens, who coincidentally bounce into each other at a roadside tea stall and walk away immediately.

The first teaser Thekku Vadakku gave a glimpse into their strained relationship.

Thekku Vadakku is helmed by director Prem Sankar, who helmed Randuper. The film was screened in the Competition Section of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in 2017.

It was penned by S Hareesh and is based on his story “Ratri Kaval“. Anjana Talkies and director VA Shrikumar’s VARS Studios are backing the project. Hareesh is popular for movies like Jallikattu (2019; selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film for the 93rd Academy Awards), Churuli (2021), and Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam (2022, which won the 53rd Kerala State Film Award for the Best Film).

According to the makers, Thekku Vadakku narrates the story of an unconventional relationship between two individuals. It has music by Sam CS, cinematography by Suresh Rajan, and editing by Kiran Das.

The film is likely to be released in August this year.

Suraj-Vinayakan’s first collab

Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vinayakan proved their mettle in various films. However, this is the first time they are collaborating.

Vinayakan became a household name with his performances in Kammatipadam (2016) and Thottapan (2019). He was last seen in Kasargold (2023).

Meanwhile, Suraj Venjaramoodu boasts an impressive career. He debuted in the industry as a comedy actor and gradually shifted to serious and character roles.

He was seen sharing the screen with Kunchako Boban in Grrr and Biju Menon in Nadanna Sambavam. Both are decent films.

The Malayalam actor will next be seen in Nissam Basheer’s untitled film and Aamir Pallikkal’s ED-Extra Decent, which he is bankrolling too. He is also debuting in Tamil cinema with Chiyaan Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2.

The release of Adios Amigo, which stars Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead, has been postponed to 15 August.
