Thudarum also marks the reunion of Mohanlal and Shobana after 15 years. Earlier, the duo was seen together in the 2009 film Sagar Alias Jacky.
Some of Shobana-Mohanlal’s hit films include Pakshe (1994), Minnaram (1994), Manichithrathazhu (1994), and Thenmavin Kombathu (1994).
Director Tharun Moorthy’s film Saudi Vellakka received the National Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.
M Renjith of Rejaputhra Visual Media is bankrolling Thudarum. Tharun Moorthy and KR Sunil wrote it. Nishad Yusuf edited it, and Vishnu Govind was the sound designer.
Jakes Bejoy is composing the music. He teamed up with Tharun Moorthy earlier for Operation Java (2021).
A poster of Thadurum released earlier along with the title reveal, showed Mohanlal and a group of children in school uniforms, who he is dropping to school. The film is anticipated to be a drama.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s last hit Empuraan has drawn attention for its portrayal of events resembling the 2002 Godhra riots, in which hundreds from the Muslim community were killed in Gujarat. The backlash also prompted Mohanlal to issue a statement addressing the concerns. In a Facebook post, he expressed ‘regret’ over the controversy.
The makers also trimmed the film by two minutes and eight seconds. A total of 24 scenes were either altered or removed in the updated version.
