Mohanlal’s next big project Empuraan has recently resumed shooting in Gujarat. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film is a sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer.
Prithviraj took to his Instagram stories, to share an update about the film, with a picture of the ongoing shoot. The actor-director shared that the filming of the big-budget movie has finally resumed in Gujarat after a slight delay.
He also wrote that, if everything goes well, the shooting in Gujarat will be finished by September end. The movie still has portions to be completed in Dubai and some parts of Kerala. Earlier it was shot in the US and UK.
The delay in shooting was attributed to the recent heavy rains and floods in Gujarat. Previously Mohanlal in an interview also said that they were shooting in Gujarat and after heavy rains, the shooting had to be stopped.
He also revealed that there will be an overall 250 members involved in the Gujarat schedule. The location will be used to shoot the flashback portions of the movie which will tell the story of the lead character done by Mohanlal.
Mohanlal is also working on his forthcoming film with Shobana, tentatively titled L360. It is helmed by director Tharun Moorthy and produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media.
Mohanlal’s immediate release would be Barroz which was supposed to hit the silver screen on 28 March. However, the makers deferred the release to 3 October due to the pending post-production work. The movie is also Mohanlal’s debut directorial.
The film’s screenplay is based on Jijo Punnoose’s popular novel “Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure“. In the novel, Barroz protects Vasco da Gama’s hidden treasure for over four centuries.
Mohanlal plays the titular role in the flick. The other cast includes Maya, Sara Vega, Tuhin Menon, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, and Guru Somasundaram.
