Mammootty to play antagonist against Vinayakan? (X)
If reports are to be believed, Malayalam superstar Mammootty is all set to play the antagonist against Vinayakan. The film in question is the yet-to-be-titled directorial debut of Jithin K Jose, which will be headlined by Mammootty.
The young filmmaker was also the co-writer of Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup (2021). The movie will be bankrolled by Mammootty’s own production house—Mammootty Kampany.
According to reports, Vinayakan will also be seen in a key role alongside Mammootty. This movie will see them share the screen after a long time. They were last seen together in Amal Neerad’s Big B (2007).
Reports say that Vinayakan is taking on the role that was earlier meant to be done by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Joju George. The actor recently shined in a negative role in Rajinikanth’s Jailer (2023), directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
The shooting of this upcoming crime thriller will start soon and Mammootty will join the sets in Nagercoil after two weeks.
The Malayalam movie has a talented technical team comprising Roby Varghese Raj, who is handling the cinematography. He directed Mammootty’s Kannur Squad (2023).
Sushin Shyam will be composing the music.
Mammootty’s previous movie Turbo (2024), directed by Vysakh and scripted by Midhun Manuel Thomas, was a superhit.
His next release Bazooka is all set to release in cinema halls. However, the release date is yet to be confirmed.
The movie is directed by Deeno Dennis, the son of veteran scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis. Bazooka will also have the Tamil actor-director Gautham Vasudev Menon in a key role.
Mammootty is currently shooting for Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Malayalam debut directorial Dominic and The Lady’s Purse. It is expected to be a thriller. The first-look poster raised expectations for the film, which is being backed by Mammootty Kampany.
Meanwhile, there are reports of Mammootty and Mohanlal working together for a movie directed by Mahesh Narayanan. It will be shot in Sri Lanka.
