Siddique's elder son passes away

Rasheen Siddique, the elder son of Malayalam actor Siddique, passed away on Thursday, 27 June. Rasheen, 37, was differently-abled.

He was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi after he developed breathing issues. He was under treatment for some days.

The funeral will be held at the Juma Masjid in Padamugal, Ernakulam on Thursday evening.

Rasheen’s younger brother Shaheen is an actor. He appeared in the films Pathemari (2015), Shafeekinte Santhosham (2022), and Sesham Mike-il Fathima (2023).

Siddique and Shaheen often shared their photos with Rasheen on social media. Indeed, Shaheen’s wedding pictures with his wife Amrutha Das, father Siddique, and brother Rasheen went viral on social media platforms.

In one of the posts, sharing his immense love for his elder brother, Shaheen said, “Rasheen is always the first one to know about what is happening in all our lives.”

He added that he was happy to see his wife and brother share a good bond.

Meanwhile, Siddique disclosed that Rasheen was a special child for him and they affectionately called him “Sappy”. The family always treated Rasheen with utmost care.

The veteran actor has been a part of the industry for over 30 years. He proved his versatility in several films. He was recently seen in the film Golam, directed by Samjad. The film starred Ranjith Sajeev, Chinnu Chandni, Dileesh Pothan, and Sunny Wayne in key roles.

Siddique’s negative performance in Neru (2023) drew wide appreciation from critics and audiences. He played a lawyer in Jeethu Joseph’s emotional courtroom drama, which was headlined by Mohanlal. The film grossed over ₹100 crore at the box office worldwide.

The actor is contesting the elections for the General Secretary post in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on 30 June.
