The theatre owners association FEOUK has announced that Kantara Chapter 1 will not be screened in Kerala.
The decision follows a demand by distributors for 55 percent of the film’s initial collection. If the distributors stick to this demand, the movie will remain off Kerala screens.
The film, set for a global release on 2 October in multiple languages including Malayalam, is distributed in Kerala by Prithviraj Productions.
The teaser released earlier showcases Rishab Shetty in a captivating Aghori avatar, embodying a distinct form of God Shiva’s avatar.
The film, while focusing on the traditions and customs of coastal Karnataka, including “Daiva“, “Bhoota Aradhane“, and the folk sport of Kambala, deals with the conflict between humans and nature.
Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films, Kantara – A Legend Chapter 1 is being made on a grander scale.
The technical team of Kantara are continuing working on the prequel too. Music will be composed by Ajaneesh Loknath and Aravind Kashyap will handle the cinematography.
Kantara -A Legend Chapter 1 will be released in multiple languages, including Kannada, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Bengali.
It is touted as one of the most anticipated prequels in the history of Indian cinema.
