Guruvayoor Amabala Nadayyil to debut on Disney+ Hotstar

After a successful theatrical run of around 40 days, Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil is all set to make its OTT debut on Disney+ Hotstar.

On Monday, 24 June, Disney+ Hotstar announced that Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil will be premiered on the digital streaming platform on 27 June.

The superhit Malayalam movie, headlined by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph, featured the actors together on the big screen for the first time.

A comedy entertainer revolving around a wedding in a family, the film starred Nikhila Vimal and Anaswara Rajan as the female leads.

Interestingly, Vipin Das’s previous blockbuster hit, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022), was a satirical take on gender prejudice in marriage. It starred Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran in the lead roles.

Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil opened to positive reviews on 16 May and collected around ₹70 crore at the global box office.

During a promotional event, Prithviraj Sukumaran stated that the film “won’t be a socially relevant film but a small venture with a good re-watch value“.

At the film’s success meet, Vipin Das said he made the movie for the audience to enjoy.

A story of bromance & comedy of errors

While the wedding forms the basic plotline, Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil highlights the bromance between the brothers-in-law (played by Prithviraj and Basil). The comedy of errors following a miscommunication keeps the story moving forward.

The Vipin Das movie joined the list of latest releases based on bromance and male friendship, including Manjummel Boys, Aavesham, and Varshangalkku Shesham, to mention a few.

While the brothers-in-law are on good terms, people around them feel they aren’t bonding well. The director also makes the audience feel the same.

The climax scenes were shot in a replica of the famous Guruvayoor Temple in Kerala. It was shot on a grand set erected in Kochi during a 22-day schedule.

Vipin Das drew praise for ably handling the climax portion, which was tricky since it involved conflict points and realisation.

The movie also marked the debut of Tamil actor Yogi Babu in Malayalam. He played a vital role in the climax part.

It also featured Jagadish and Rekha Harris in key roles.

In an interview with South First, scriptwriter Deepu Pradeep revealed that the works of Priyadarshan, Sathyhan Anthikad, Sreenivasan, and Raghunath Paleri inspired him to write the story of Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil.

The movie saw extensive promotions by the makers. The teaser and trailer increased the expectations of fans further.

E4 Entertainment and Prithviraj Productions produced Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil. The soundtrack Ankit Menon composed also became a hit with music lovers.
