'Footage' scriptwriter Shabna Mohammed's debut directorial 'Delulu' to star Anurag Kashyap and Rima Kallingal. (Instagram)
Bollywood director-actor Anurag Kashyap and Malayalam actor-producer Rima Kallingal are set to lead the directorial debut of Shabna Mohammed’s Delulu.
Announced on Onam, Delulu also features Remya Nambeesan, Nikhila Vimal, Chandu Salimkumar, and Daveed Prakkat in prominent roles.
The film, which will go on floors soon, has cinematography by Shinoz, editing by Saiju Sreedharan, and art direction by Appuni Sajan. It will be bankrolled by Pamparam Productions.
Shabna Mohammed hogged the limelight with Manju Warrier’s latest release Footage, which she co-wrote. The Malayalam movie was presented by Anurag Kashyap.
Shabna Mohammed also wrote the script for the National Award-winning film Vaanku (2021).
Directed by Saiju Sreedharan, Footage was an experimental movie which is one of the first “found-footage” movies in Malayalam. The movie was received well by the audience upon its release.

Anurag Kashyap shares a good association with Malayalam filmmakers as he also co-produced Geethu Mohandas’s Moothon (2019). His movie Choked (2020), too, starred Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew in the lead role.
Delulu is the second Malayalam film of Anurag Kashyap. His debut film in Malayalam as an actor is Rifle Club. It is currently in the post-production stage.
Rifle Club has Aashiq Abu wielding the megaphone and features an ensemble cast. The film is jointly written by Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Karunakaran, Suhas, and Sharfu, reuniting the team behind the acclaimed Mayaanadhi (2017).
Big Dawgs hitmaker Hanumankind is also making his acting debut in the Aashiq Abu film.
Meanwhile, Rima Kallingal recently completed shooting for her movie Theatre directed by Sajin Baabu, best known for the critically acclaimed film Biriyaani (2019). She was last seen in Aashiq Abu’s Neelavelicham (2023), which didn’t live up to the expectations.
Chandu Salim Kumar, who is also part of Delulu, was last seen in Manjummel Boys (2024).
