Anurag Kashyap to debut in Malayalam with Ashiq Abu's Rifle Club

Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap’s films have a set of fans in Kerala. The filmmaker visited the state during the 28th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) held in December 2023.

His movie Kennedy, screened at the IFFK, received a warm response from the audience.

Anurag Kashyap also lent his voice to Mohanlal in the Hindi version of Malaikottai Vaaliban (2024). The actor was also the co-producer of Geetu Mohandas’ Moothon (2019) and a producer of Nithin Lukose’s Paka (River of Blood) (2022).

And now, the Bollywood actor-director is all set to debut in Malayalam with Rifle Club, directed by Aashiq Abu.

In a statement, the makers announced that Anurag Kashyap will play a villain in Rifle Club.

The announcement of Kashyap’s entry into the Malayalam film industry has sparked new discussions.

Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothen are the lead actors in the movie.

In September 2023, Aashiq Abu posted an ad for the casting call for Rifle Club.

In response to his post, Anurag Kashyap commented: “You need a North Indian actor from Mumbai for a cameo?”

When asked about his guest roles in the Tamil movie Leo (2023), Anurag Kashyap recently said acting was a “personal joke” for him.

Suhas, Sharfu (of Varathan fame), and Dileesh Karunakaran wrote the script.
