Bhavana’s upcoming Malayalam film, Hunt, is all set to release in theatres on 9 August. It’s written by Nikhil Anand and directed by Shaji Kailas.
The makers of Hunt recently launched a new teaser while announcing the release date. Both teasers hint at supernatural elements and a series of crimes, promising an intriguing watch for audiences.
The movie went on floors sometime ago and is in the post-production stage. It was one of the films Bhavana signed after her comeback to Malayalam cinema.
In Hunt, the actor plays a forensic specialist who investigates a series of killings. It marks the second collaboration between Shaji Kailas and Bhavana after their successful crime thriller Chinthamani Kolacase (2006), which featured Suresh Gopi in the lead role.
The other cast includes Renji Panikkar, Chandhunath, Dain Davis, Anu Mohan, G Suresh Kumar, Ajmal Ameer, Rahul Madhav, Biju Pappan, Nandhu, and Vijayakumar.
The music is composed by Kailas Menon. Jackson Johnson is in charge of the cinematography. Ajas Pukkadan is the editor. K Radhakrishnan is producing the movie under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments.
Bhavana made a comeback in Malayalam in 2o23 with Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn, where she paired opposite Sharaf U Dheen. Later, she played a prominent role in Nadikar (2024), headlined by Tovino Thomas.
Sadly, both films didn’t do well at the box office. Hence, she is pinning her hopes on Hunt. moreover, the film is drawing huge anticipation from the audience since it is helmed by Shaji Kailas, an expert in thrillers.
The director announced a sequel to Chinthamani Kolacase, which marks the return of Suresh Gopi as Lal Krishna Viradiyar. Bhavana played the role of Chinthamani in the movie.
In 2022, Shaji Kailas directed Kaduva with Prithviraj Sukumaran as the protagonist. The film was a success. The same year, the duo made the gangster film Kaapa, which did well in theatres despite the mixed response.
