The makers of Bhavana’s upcoming Malayalam movie, Hunt, have announced the new release date. A social media post from the makers confirmed that Hunt will be released on 23 August.
The Malayalam movie was initially supposed to hit the screens on 9 August. However, it was postponed due to the Wayanad landslides.
Besides Hunt, the release date of Adios Amigo, Footage, and Chithini—which were supposed to hit the theatres on 2 August—was also deferred because of the deadly landslides.
The regular shooting of Hunt commenced in December 2022. This is one of the films that marks the comeback of Bhavana to Malayalam cinema.
The teaser and trailer feature Bhavana as a forensic specialist, who deals with a series of killings. The movie is set against the backdrop of a medical college and follows the investigation into the murders. It also has supernatural elements and paranormal activities, which piqued the curiosity of film lovers.
Director Shaji Kailas, popular for making thrillers, wielded the megaphone for Hunt. It was written by Nikhil Anand.
The film also marks the second collaboration between Shaji Kailas and Bhavana after their successful crime thriller Chinthamani Kolacase (2006), which had Suresh Gopi in the lead role.
The other cast of Hunt includes Renji Panikkar, Chandhunath, Dain Davis, Anu Mohan, G Suresh Kumar, Ajmal Ameer, Rahul Madhav, Biju Pappan, Nandhu, and Vijayakumar.
The music was composed by Kailas Menon. Jackson Johnson was in charge of cinematography. Ajas Pukkadan was the editor and K Radhakrishnan produced the movie under his banner Goodwill Entertainments.
Last year, Bhavana was seen in Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn (2023) opposite Sharaf U Dheen. Her latest release was Nadikar (2024) with Tovino Thomas. However, both films didn’t do well at the box office.
On the other hand, Shaji Kailas scored hits with Kaduva (2022) and Kaapa (2022), both headlined by Prithviraj Sukumaran. However, his Alone (2023) with Mohanlal, the only character appearing in the flick, received mixed reviews. It was originally made for direct OTT release, but then, the makers released it in cinema halls.
