AR Rahman wins Best Background Score award at HMMA for 'Aadujeevitham'. (X)
The Oscar Award-winning music composer AR Rahman has once again made his mark on the global stage. He won the prestigious Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2024 for the background score of Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life in the Independent Film (Foreign Language) category.
The film’s director Blessy accepted the award on behalf of Rahman, at the award ceremony held in Los Angeles, USA. The awards are also considered a precursor to the Oscars.
Rahman was also nominated in the Song-Feature Film category for the track “Periyone” from Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life.
In a video clip shared on the film’s Instagram handle, AR Rahman thanked his technicians and movie’s team. He further called the project a labour of love.
Sharing the news on social media, the director wrote: “We are overjoyed to announce that Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life has won the Best Background Score (Foreign Language) award at the prestigious 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA)! This is a monumental moment for the entire team, made even more special by receiving this recognition on stage. A heartfelt thanks to the legendary A.R. Rahman and the incredible team behind this masterpiece for their dedication and hard work in bringing this vision to life. We are immensely grateful for the unwavering love and support from all of you.”
The Hindu reported that AR Rahman was competing against Segun Akinola for Girl You Know It’s True, Arli Liberman and Tiki Taane for Ka Wahawhai Tonu, Hao-Ting Shih and Tae-Young Yu for Mongrels, Karzan Mahmood for The Seed of the Sacred Fig and Sandro Morales-Santoro for The Shadow of The Sun for the jury’s nod.
The film, based on Benyamin’s popular novel, depicts the real-life experiences of Najeeb, a Kerala expat who faced harsh conditions while working as a slave in Saudi Arabia.
