AR Rahman addressing the Aadujeevitham website launch event

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Blessy’s most-awaited project Aadujeevitham is gearing up for release on 28 March.

The Malayalam movie was shot for seven long years as the COVID-19 pandemic played a spoilsport with the shooting schedule, which was planned in several countries.

On Monday, 26 February, Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman launched the website of the movie in Kochi.

He also announced that the music launch of the film will be held on 10 March.

Music composer’s movie: Rahman

AR Rahman worked on two films in Malayalam. The first one was for Mohanlal-starrer Yoddha (1992) and the second movie was Malayankunju (2022).

The songs from “Yoddha” are still most loved by all.

The “Padakali” song has a separate fan base in the new generation, too. “Kunu Kune” and “Manpoove” songs are still celebrated by music lovers.

Launching the website, Rahman said he is making a comeback in the Malayalam cinema after a long period. “I’m coming back to Malayalam after Yoddha. I did a small film in between with Fahadh Faasil (Malayankunju).”

Rahman described Aadujeevitham as a music composer’s movie as it had many realities to compose.

“I feel honoured to work with Blessy, Prithviraj, and Benyamin. They have given their soul to the film. Looking at them reaffirms my faith in cinema,” he added.

Rahman’s input was helpful: Blessy

Director Blessy, who too was present at the website launch, pointed out that not all movies have a website of their own. “But team Aadujeevitham created a website so people could know more about the film and the names of the technicians who were a part of it.”

However, the filmmaker did not speak much about the movie and reserved his comments for promotional events.

Blessy said he initially approached AR Rahman for one song. However, their discussions and Rahman’s input helped the film in the re-recording process.

Benyamin, the writer of the book Aadujeevitham, said he was elated that his book was getting a cinematic version. He also revealed that he initially had apprehensions about the movie, but after watching the final output, he was happy.

Longest shooting period in Malayalam cinema

Though Blessy started the preparations for Aadujeevitham in 2008, he could start the production only in 2018.

The Malayalam film had one of the longest shooting periods in Malayalam cinema, and the shoot was finally completed on 14 July last year.

The major portions of the flick were shot in Jordan.

Further, Aadujeevitham is one of the biggest films of Prithviraj’s career.

Amala Paul plays the female lead in it.

Produced under the banner of Visual Romance, the movie also stars Jimmy Jean-Louis (Hollywood actor), KR Gokul, and famous Arab actors Talib Al Balushi and Rick Abi in other important roles.

AR Rahman is the music director. Resul Pookutty handled the sound mixing.

Sunil KS is the cinematographer. Sreekar Prasad is the editor.

The film will also be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada languages.
