Ashiq Abu reveals updates about rifle club

Malayalam director Aashiq Abu announced his next, Rifle Club, in September last year, with Dileesh Pothan and Soubin Shahir in the lead roles.

However, the filmmaker revealed some interesting updates about the film.

While Vishnu Agasthya came on board, Soubin Shahir — who is basking in the success of Manjummel Boys — opted out of the project.

Vishnu Agasthya recently appeared in critically acclaimed films O.Baby, Aayirathonnu Nunakal, and RDX — all released in 2023 and superhits.

Rifle Club will also mark the comeback of Vani Viswanath, who has not acted in Malayalam films for a long time.

Meanwhile, Syam Pushkaran joined the writing team with Suhas, Sharfu, and Dileesh Karunakaran.

Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap is debuting in Malayalam with the movie. He will play a negative character.

Vijayaraghavan, Vincy Aloshious, Ramzan Muhammed, Surabhi Lakshmi, and Unnimaya Prasad will play prominent roles in the flick.

The technical crew of Rifle Club includes Rex Vijayan as music director, V Saajan as editor, Ajayan Chalissery as production designer, Ronex Xavier as makeup artiste, and Mashar Hamsa as costume designer.

Filmmaker Aashiq Abu will also handle the cinematography. This will be his second outing after Mathew Thomas’ upcoming film Lovely.

Aashiq Abu’s OPM Cinemas is producing Rifle Club in association with TRU Stories Entertainment.

It is expected to hit the screens for Onam this year.
