The Malayalam industry did quite a good business in September, thanks to Onam releases.
While Nahas Hidayath’s directorial RDX (2023)entered the ₹100-crore club, Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha (2023)ended up as an average grosser. However, Nivin Pauly’s Ramachandra Boss & Co. (2023) didn’t do well in theatres.
Surprisingly, Tamil films like Jailer (2023)and Mark Antony (2023) made a roaring business at the box office. So did Shahrukh Khan’s Bollywood flick Jawan (2023).
Now, here’s the list of Malayalam films that are all set to hit the screens in October and are expected to continue the Onam success streak.
Director Tinu Pappachan’s Chaaver features Kunchacko Boban, Antony Varghese, and Arjun Ashokan in the lead roles.
The Malayalam movie missed many release dates. Initially, it was expected to be released on 20 June and then on 28 September. However, it will hit the marquee on 5 October.
The action entertainer marks Tinu’s third film after Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil (2018) and Ajagajantharam (2021). Both films were of the action genre.
Chaaver is jointly produced by Arun Narayan and Venu Kunnappilly under the banners of Arun Narayan Productions and Kavya Film Company.
Actor-director Joy Mathew is the scriptwriter and Jinto George is the cinematographer. Nishad Yusuf is the editor and Justin Varghese is the music composer.
Joju George will be next seen in writer-director AK Saajan’s Pulimada. The Malayalam movie is expected to be released in October. But the date is yet to be confirmed.
AK Saajan is also the editor and scriptwriter. The film casts Aishwarya Rajesh as the female lead.
The cinematography is by Venus ISC. Anil Johnson composed the original background score.
An intriguing teaser of the movie was released by the makers recently which gave the impression that Pulimada will be a thriller.
Joju George teamed up again with veteran director Joshiy for the upcoming Malayalam film titled Antony. This is their second outing after Porinju Mariyam Jose (2019) which was a hit.
The makers unveiled the film’s first-look poster which piqued the interest of Malayalam movie buffs.
The cast includes Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vijayaraghavan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Asha Sharath.
The flick is expected to be released in October. However, the date is not yet confirmed.
Antony is produced by Einstein Zach Paul under the banner of Einstein Media. It is scripted by Rajesh Varma.
Vinay Forrt’s Somante Krithavu is touted to be a comedy-drama.
In the second teaser of the movie, there’s a sequence where Soman’s kid (Devanandha) says, “I am India”. The teaser has been trending ever since on social media, all thanks to the spurt over changing the name of ‘India’ to ‘Bharat’.
Somante Krithavu is directed by Rohith Narayanan. The story, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Ranjith K Haridas.
The cast includes Vinay Forrt, Fara Shibla, Devanandha, and Ponnachan Perumpally.
It will hit the theatres on 5 October.
