Vyjayanthi Movies, which is bankrolling one of the most awaited films of next year — Kalki 2898 AD, has warned the public that sharing any part of the film — be it scenes, footage, or images — is illegal and punishable by law.

Taking to social media platform X, the firm published a legal copyright notice which read: “Vyjayanthi Movies wishes to inform the public that Kalki 2898 AD and all its components are protected by copyright laws.”

It further read: “Sharing any part of the film, be it scenes, footage or images, is illegal and punishable. Legal action will be taken as needed, with the assistance of Cyber Police.”

Poster leak

The production house’s move comes in the wake of a film poster being leaked a few days ago. The leak seems to have upset the production house which is investing a huge sum (around ₹600 crores) in the project.

As a result, Vyjayanthi Movies seems to have initiated measures to ensure that such problems do not recur in future.

Its warning of strong legal action against those found sharing leaked clips or pictures seems to have had at least some effect with some social media users deleting their tweets of the leaked poster and informing the production house of their actions.

Kalki 2898 AD, which was earlier tentatively titled Project K, has been garnering a lot of attention right from the time it was first announced.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, best known for having made Mahanati (2018) — the biopic of actress Savithri — the film features a host of popular stars such as Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.

It has already made history by becoming the first Indian film to have its teaser released at the prestigious San Diego Comic-Con.

Incidentally, it was at the same prestigious event that the unit chose to make known the fact that the film was to be called Kalki 2898 AD.
