Kiccha Sudeep sends legal notice for ₹10 crore

Days after producer MN Kumar held a press conference making a series of allegations against Kannada superstar Abhinaya Chakravarthy Kiccha Sudeep, the actor sent a legal notice to Kumar and producer MN Suresh for ₹10 crore.

He also sought an unconditional apology for causing him mental agony and damage to his reputation with the illegal and false allegations.

Apologise in three days

From the date of receiving his legal notice, the actor demanded producers MN Kumar and MN Suresh to issue an unconditional apology in three days, for making defamatory statements and also demanded that he be paid ₹10 crore for causing an irreparable loss to his reputation.

The Kannada actor, in the legal notice, demanded that the two producers should get their unconditional apology published in print and visual media.

Further, necessary steps be taken to remove the defamatory statements made against him from various social media platforms.

Failing to comply with the notice, the actor shall initiate appropriate criminal and civil proceedings against the producers before the concerned court for claiming damages, the notice added.

Surprise, shock and disgust

Kiccha Sudeep, through his advocate, expressed shock and disgust when producer Kumar held a press conference on 3 July and made false allegations against him.

Interestingly, on 17 January this year, the Kannada superstar issued a legal notice against Kumar in response to the written communication the latter had sent to the actor through the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC).

However, the producer remained silent about the notice and did not mention the issue anywhere during the press meet.

“Fearing consequences that may befall upon him, due to the legal notice sent on 17 January 2023, MN Kumar pedalled illegal and defamatory claims against Kiccha Sudeep. However, our client (Kiccha Sudeep) did not initiate proceedings at that time. But to his surprise, shock and utter disgust, the producer, on 3 July 2023, held a press conference making the defamatory and false statements,” the legal notice stated.

Suicide threats

Further, the legal notice pointed out that MN Suresh issued a threat to Kiccha Sudeep claiming that MN Kumar attempted suicide in the past because of the actor. Suresh threatened that if Kumar ever resorts to such extreme steps, the actor and his family would be solely held responsible for the same.

Also, the notice categorically stated that it was all far from the truth and an attempt to defame and dent the long-built image of the actor and further annihilate his prospects in the film industry.

The two producers took undue advantage of their positions in the KFCC by hatching a close-knit conspiracy and through active collusion with certain people whose details were not known to the actor at this point, the legal notice added.

Meanwhile, Kiccha Sudeep stated that the false allegations made against him caused mental agony to him and his family members.

“It ruined his image in his professional, personal and social life. The actor is deeply disturbed as his moral uprightness, character, and conduct have become the topic of discussion amongst one and all known to him.”

“In fact, a few producers who offered our client (Kiccha Sudeep) to feature him in their movies have communicated their decision to withdraw their offer fearing the damage that would be caused to their movies solely due to your (MN Kumar and MN Suresh) illegal defamatory statements and allegations,” the notice further added.
