Producer MN Kumar protests infant of Kichcha Sudeepa house

Senior Kannada film producer MN Kumar has announced that he will stage a sit-in outside Kiccha Sudeep’s house if the actor doesn’t do a film under his production, as assured.

The producer told the media on Monday, 3 July, that he will wait for another two days for Kiccha Sudeep’s response. “If there is no positive outcome, I would protest outside the actor’s residence in Bengaluru seeking justice.”

MN Kumar, a well-known producer and distributor in the Kannada film industry, bankrolled several notable projects, including director Yograj Bhat’s Ranga SSLC (2004) starring Kichcha Sudeep and Ramya, Kashi From Village (2005), and Maanikya (2014) starring Sudeep and Crazy star V Ravichandran.

Maanikya was helmed by none other than Kiccha himself; Similarly, Kumar produced Mukunda Murari (2016) with Sudeep and Real Star Upendra in the lead.

‘Paid remuneration 8 years ago’

“Around eight years ago, I made all arrangements to produce my next venture with Sudeep. I had even paid the remuneration to the actor and some advance amount to director Nanda Kishore. I had both story and screenplay ready to kickstart the project,” MN Kumar recalled.

“The film was supposed to go on the floors soon after Pailwaan (2019) and Kotigobba 3 (2021). However, I was told to wait till Vikrant Rona (2022) gets completed. But now, the Kannada superstar announced his next project which would be bankrolled by a non-Kannada producer,” he averred.

Kichcha 46 announced

Recently, Kiccha Sudeep announced his next, tentatively titled Kichcha 46. It will be directed by Vijay Kartikeya and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his V Creations banner.

MN Kumar further alleged that he had paid ₹10 lakh for taking up kitchen repair works at Sudeep’s house, eight years ago.

“I even paid when the actor was buying a house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru. However, he is yet to fulfil his promise to act in my film,” the producer complained.

“During my last meeting with Kiccha Sudeep, the actor asked me to get the title Muthathi Satyaraju registered with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce which I did. Even the script work is almost finished. But he remained out of reach to date. I tried to contact his wife Priya Sudeepa and his father Sanjeev Manjappa sir; I also wrote to the actor through KFCC on six occasions,” he further added.

Stating that the actor did not respond to any of his pleas, MN Kumar said he has been left with no other option but to stage a sit-in outside the actor’s house, as a mark of protest.

“I have sold two of my houses. Also, I have a loan of up to ₹9 crore and I am paying a hefty amount towards interest every month. I am engulfed in a deep financial crisis due to Kiccha Sudeep,” Kumar added.
