Actress Sapthami Gowda, who is riding high on the success of Kantara, is now all set to make her debut in Vivek Agnihotri’s next directorial The Vaccine War.

The upcoming film focuses on the vaccines for Covid-19 during the pandemic from an Indian point of view.

Speaking exclusively to South First, Sapthami Gowda shared that the director, who had seen Kantara, called her to praise her work in the film.

“Vivek Agnihotri sir called me after watching Kantara. I was so overwhelmed that he not only took time to call me but also took to social media platforms praising the work of the Kantara team, in which he mentioned my character Leela,” said Sapthami Gowda.

She added: “When Vivek sir talked to me about a role in his upcoming film, The Vaccine War, and asked whether I would be interested in doing it, I just said ‘yes’ immediately. I couldn’t have asked for more, especially when such great actors like Anupam Kher sir, Nana Patekar sir, and Pallavi Joshi ma’am were already roped in.”

The actress, who had recently signed another Kannada movie titled Kaali, said she was ever grateful to the entire team from the Hombale Films banner and Rishab Shetty.

“I owe everything to Kantara. It is because of the support I got from the Kantara team from Day One till it went global — and is now at the doorstep of the Oscars — that I am getting recognised with great opportunities all over,” the actress shared.

Sapthami Gowda will be joining the team of The Vaccine War in Hyderabad on Sunday for the first schedule.

About her role, the actress said she was just excited to be a part of the journey.

“I will be celebrating Sankranti on the sets of the film. Right now, I am equally excited and praying for Kantara‘s Oscar journey. Hoping the film will script another historic moment. Fingers crossed,” she said.

Being made primarily in Hindi, The Vaccine War will release in 11 Indian languages, including all the major South Indian languages, Assamese, Marathi, and other languages.
