A Bengaluru court restrained Kannada film producers MN Kumar and NM Suresh from making any defamatory statements against Kannada star actor Kiccha Sudeep and his family members.
The court, in its order dated 21 August, directed that the two producers, their agents, associates or anybody claiming through them are restrained from making any defamatory statement against the actor.
It also restrained them from making any allegations regarding the character, conduct, honesty or integrity of Kiccha Sudeep or his family members, either oral or in written form, before print and electronic media or in any other public forum, till the disposal of the suit.
Kiccha Sudeep recently recorded his statements before the court in this matter. He filed a defamation suit against the producers for making baseless allegations against him.
Of the several allegations, MN Kumar, during a press meeting on 3 July, accused the actor of not honouring his words, made nine years ago, to act in a movie produced by him even after paying the remuneration for the same.
The producer also alleged that he paid money to the actor towards buying a residential property located in Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, Sudeep made NM Suresh an accused after the latter issued a threat to the former claiming that MN Kumar attempted suicide in the past because of the actor.
Suresh also threatened that the actor and his family would be solely held responsible if Kumar ever resorts to such extreme steps.
In his plea, Kiccha Sudeep stated that the allegations made against him were far from the truth and an attempt to defame and dent the long-built image of the actor and further annihilate his prospects in the film industry.
The actor also expressed his displeasure against the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) for entertaining the two producers by not verifying the facts before they made a series of illegal and false allegations against him.
Sudeep is presently busy with the shooting of his upcoming project in Tamil, tentatively titled K46, directed by Vijay Karthikeya.
