Hey Ram to be re-released in 12K resolution?

While 4K resolution has become a benchmark in many movie theatres, this image quality has seeped into the households as well.

Your favourite film you watch on your television set or the IPL match you enjoy every evening offers sharper and more lifelike images. That is because of a display resolution of approximately 4,000 pixels.

This resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels provides a high level of detailing. The 4K is four times clearer than Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels).

Along with crystal clear moving images, the 4K resolution enhances the cinematic experience on the screen.

Prasad Corporation of Chennai has experimented with 12K resolution making movie-viewing more exciting. The company upgraded the classic film Hey Ram to an impressive 12K resolution a few months ago.

Thus, Hey Ram became the first-ever Indian film to be digitised and preserved in 12K resolution.

Re-release in 12K resolution?!

And now, rumours are agog that the flick will be re-released in 12K resolution. However, the question remains if the theatres are equipped with the technology.

Meanwhile, an official confirmation from the makers is awaited.

Headlined by Kamal Haasan and released in 2000, Hey Ram now offers viewers a clear and detailed picture.

The movie was previously re-released in Tamil Nadu with a 4K resolution.

Hey Ram explores the controversial circumstances surrounding Mahatma Gandhi’s death. Kamal Haasan not only played the protagonist but also directed the film.

The movie features a special appearance by Shah Rukh Khan and boasts a musical score by the legendary Ilayaraja.

With a runtime of three-and-a-half hours, the original version of the film is readily available for viewing on YouTube.
