Kamal Haasan has showered laurels on director Lokesh Kanagaraj after watching the promo of Vijay’s forthcoming flick Thalapathy 67, said a source close to the film crew.

Just like what he did in the case of his previous release Vikram, Lokesh arranged a special screening of Thalapathy 67 (T67)’s promo video for Kamal Haasan.

This special screening further fuelled the speculation that Kamal would join the project to do a cameo. Now, the actor’s fans are waiting to see if Kamal will also appear in the video.

Earlier, Lokesh said that the shooting of T67 will begin much before the release of Vijay’s Varisu but refused to divulge any details since it would overshadow Varisu’s publicity.

Meanwhile, at an event organised at a college in Coimbatore today, 25 January, the director revealed that an announcement on T67 will be made on 1-3 February.

Surprisingly, the announcement itself became one of the most-awaited events in Kollywood as Chiyaan Vikram is also expected to be part of the cast along with Trisha. If this materialises, Trisha will be seen teaming up with Vijay after Ghilli (2004).

As per Ahimsa Entertainment, the UK distributor of Varisu, the film’s collections surpassed Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and are second only to Ponniyin Selvan-1.

In India, the film collected ₹132 crores in the first week of which ₹106 crore is the share from the Tamil language alone.

On Day 14, Varisu’s collections within India totalled ₹154 crores. Surprisingly, the film collected ₹1.7 crores in Tamil Nadu on 23 January.
