“Salman Khan called me to ask if I could be part of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. That’s not all. He also called my husband Himalay and son Abhimanyu, too. Everyone in the family was like ‘Salman Khan is calling’.”

He took it upon himself to call each of us directly and not through anybody else. The friendship we share is special, and there was no question of saying no to him, the actress shared.

Reunion after 33 years

A certified nutritionist and wellness expert, Bhagyashree described it as a memorable moment since the duo would be sharing the screen space after 33 years.

“We both know that our characters Suman and Prem are etched forever in people’s minds. So, we knew that coming together after 33 years would be a special moment, especially the fans who love Maine Pyar Kiya even to this date,” she said.

The actress observed that their scene was shot splendidly. “I loved the way the scene was picturised. It wasn’t complicated but short and sweet. More importantly, it met with the expectations of fans who wanted to see us together after Maine Pyar Kiya.”

The biggest question about Salman Khan, often referred to as the most eligible bachelor in Indian cinema, has always been about his marriage.

Incidentally, Bhagyashree’s cameo appearance is also about the same.

“Now that I’m married and have two children, I am often asked in interviews when Salman Khan is getting married. My character Bhagya in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan — a perfect recreation of Maine Pyar Kiya — poses the same query: ‘Tumne shaadi nahi ki?’ (You didn’t marry?),” she added.

When asked whether she ever asked Salman Khan in real life about his marriage, Bhagyashree said it’s a personal question.

“Salman loves children and it always made me think that a person who loves kids so much would never want to remain unmarried. I’m sure there were phases when he wanted to tie the knot and things didn’t work out the way he planned. It’s like man proposes and God disposes,” the actor shrugged.

The cameo appearance also included Bhagyashree’s better half Himalay and their son Abhimanyu.

“Though I had been acting, Himalay ji took a different path from his acting career. It was a novel idea to make him play the cameo in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Salman made sure everything was perfect. Further, Salman loves Abhimanyu and we all had a memorable time shooting for the flick,” she recollected.

Upcoming ventures

Bhagyashree has three big projects lined up for release this year.

“This year will be special for me. Both NRI Wives (an anthology in Hindi) and Chatrapathi are releasing on 12 May,” the actress revealed.

While her character in NRI Wives has shades of grey, Chatrapathi is an action movie and portrays a mother-son relationship. It marks the Hindi debut of Telugu actor Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas. Also, it is a remake of SS Rajamouli’s 2005 Telugu flick with the same title starring Prabhas.

“Meanwhile, Happy Teacher’s Day will be a pleasant surprise. I’m eagerly looking forward to its release,” Bhagyashree signed off.
