Vijay Deverakonda at Kushi promotions

It’s still an unexplained mystery why the craze for Vijay Deverakonda wouldn’t die down. The number of advance bookings of Kushi paints a different picture.

Bookings that were opened on Wednesday, 30 August, show that seats are filling fast in the two Telugu States. Some screens have already put up sold-out display boards.

If an actor’s last film was a disaster, it surely will have a negative impact on his next film.

But this popular logic isn’t working for audiences in the case of Kushi, if not for Vijay Deverakonda fans. The movie seems to have no hurdles on the way.

Packed houses on Day 1

Ticket bookings in single screens haven’t been picked up yet. But in multiplexes, they’re being sold like hotcakes. A majority of the screens in Hyderabad have been allocated to Kushi.

All these cinema halls are going to run with packed houses on the first day. It looks like the mood is likely to continue for the rest of the weekend.

If the talk from the early show is good, Kushi is set to make cash registers ring.

Going by statistics, the three pillars that Kushi stands on — Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and director Shiva Nirvana — faced disasters with their last outings.

Vijay Deverakonda suffered badly with Liger (2022), and Samantha’s image was badly dented with the dud Shaakuntalam (2023). With Tuck Jagadish (2021), director Shiva lost his way.

But luckily, Kushi convinced audiences with its music and then the trailer.

Kushi, a romantic entertainer

Vijay Deverakonda plays Viplav, an employee with BSNL who falls in love with Aradhya (Samantha), a corporate professional working for iLabs Centre. How they embark on a journey is the story of Kushi.

The initial hype came from Malayalam music sensation Hesham Abdul who gave a magical touch to the songs. The trailer, too, impressed the average filmgoers.

Despite Vijay not coming before the media and Samantha enjoying the US trip, Kushi got the required push that it needed to grab the attention of audiences.

It is quite apparent that Vijay Deverakonda is dodging the media probably out of fear that he may have to explain the reasons for his last disaster (Liger). But, if Kushi passes the acid test, he will stand invincible!
