Vinay Forrt Aattam and Family screened at IFFK

Malayalam actor Vinay Forrt‘s films Aattam (The Play) and Family were screened at the ongoing 28th International Film Festival in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, 12 December.

The young actor, who participated in the film festival, was on cloud nine for the recognition his works earned.

Vinay Forrt’s Aattam is all set for release on January 5. The audience at the IFFK appreciated it.

Aattam is a commercial entertainer and a film of this genre getting a space in the IFFK is a positive sign for us. In the movie, I did my research and discussed with director Anand Ekarshi about how we can give a good colour to the character,” Vinay Forrt explained.

Vinay Forrt along with 11 drama artists acted in the flick.

A director’s actor in Family

Vinay’s Family was also screened at the IFFK, and the movie was received well.

During a question and answer session after the screening of Family, the Malayalam actor recalled that he did some research before portraying his character Sony.

“Director Don Palathara knows too well about his characters. Whenever I added a particular element to my character, Don would ask me to perform normally if he felt there was no need for improvisation,” Vinay said.

He added that his homework helped him to an extent in portraying the character, and working with Don Palathara was a good experience.

When asked if nepotism in Malayalam cinema affected his career, Vinay Forrt noted that he had no complaints about nepotism since he was getting good roles. “I have been in the industry for 15 years and acted in 65 films. If my children feel like entering movies, I will provide them with a platform.”

Vinay Forrt also clarified that he was not a star but an actor who loved doing good films and characters.

Don Palathara, who was present at the IFFK screening, said they decided to shoot certain sequences in Family in a single-shot mode. He revealed that he and his cinematographer knew what was to be shot.

Interestingly, the Malayalam director hailed from the Idukki district and his movie Family, too, was set in the hilly district of Idukki.

Don Palathara described Family as a slice-of-life film.

When asked why he uses the Black-and-White format in his movies, the director said the budgetary constraints were the reason for the decision.
