Dulquer Salmaan has become a pan-Indian actor after delivering successive hits in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. He even enjoys a huge fan following, mostly among teens and women.

During an interaction with the media early this week, as part of the inaugural of a textile shop in Kerala, the actor revealed why he took a long time to debut in films.

“I did not want to tarnish my father’s name. Well, he has been ruling the roost in the Malayalam cinema for many years. Moreover, I wasn’t sure if people would watch me for two hours in a theatre. But cinema is everything for me now,” he said.

Dulquer Salmaan debuted in the Malayalam film Second Show (in 2011) directed by Srinath Rajendran.

“I was scared. When I forayed into movies at the age of 28, I was anxious. Dad’s (Mammootty) Big B was released when I was about to graduate. I was nervous that I’d tarnish the name of such a big star,” the 40-year-old recalled.

“During our 20s, we are surrounded by a lot of insecurities. We won’t have confidence in ourselves. I was facing a similar situation!”

It was a time when second-generation actors were not doing well in Malayalam films.

“Prithviraj Sukumaran came much earlier and Fahadh Faasil debuted almost along with me. So, I didn’t have much of a reference there,” the Sita Ramam-actor recollected.

Dulquer Salmaan asserted that his life, ambition, and inspiration are cinema now. “I love staying home and my passion for movies is making me step out of my house,” he signed off.

She was supposed to take a noon flight from Mumbai to Kochi on 21 March. But she received information from Indigo that the flight had been rescheduled to 1.30 PM.

When the actor, along with 22 other passengers, arrived at the Mumbai Airport at the rescheduled time, they learnt that their flight had already left.

In her Instagram post, Shwetha Menon alleged that Indigo staff at the help desk weren’t supportive. They weren’t willing to accommodate her or the remaining passengers on the earliest flight.

The Rathinirvedam-actress stated that the staff at the help desk was trying to accommodate her and the remaining passengers on the 9 PM flight even though the 5 PM flight was available.

She also alleged that a female employee of Indigo even challenged her and other passengers to complain wherever they wanted. It was then that the actress decided to go live on social media.

However, Shwetha Menon thanked two Indigo staffers — Aswathy and Vishnu — who rendered a personal apology to all the passengers upon their arrival at Kochi Airport.

The makers launched the movie’s trailer which promises an intense political drama with thrilling moments and violence. It also provides a hint that the flick is about an internal conflict in a political party.

Higuita also stars Dhyan Sreenivasan, Manoj K Jayan, Indrans, Abu Salim, and Vineeth Kumar in important roles.

It is directed by debutant Hemanth G Nair and produced jointly by Bobby Tharain and Sajith Amma.

A controversy erupted recently after writer-political commentator NS Madhavan accused the crew of using the title of his popular short story for their movie.
