Malayalam Superstar Mammootty’s cameo role in Abraham Ozler (2024) has become the talk of the town after the release of the film.
Jayaram, who was going through a tough career in Malayalam, finally delivered a hit after a long time.
The actor admitted that he intentionally took a hiatus from Malayalam films and was concentrating more on Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films.
In a recent interview, Jayaram expressed his wish to do all types of roles in Malayalam that come his way.
On Friday, 12 January, Mammootty graced a press meet organised as part of the success of Abraham Ozler.
During the interaction with the media, Mammootty said he was not fed up with the process of acting and that was why he was doing films and taking up challenging characters.
When asked about his role in Kaathal-The Core (2023), the actor quipped, “Nobody has discussed whom I married in my Tamil movie Peranbu. I have been choosing challenging roles as I like to do it.”
In the 2018 movie Peranbu, Mammootty’s character Amudhan marries Meera, a transwoman. After five years, the actor played a closeted gay man in Kaathal-The Core.
When asked why a star of his status chose to do a cameo in a movie headlined by Jayaram, Mammootty replied that he never boasts of being a megastar and insisted that there are no separate rules for superstars.
The actor also said people who worked in Abraham Ozler were his friends and Jayaram was a good friend. “When I asked director Midhun if I could do a cameo role in the movie, he felt it would be good. After some time, he confirmed it.”
Meanwhile, Jayaram said, “Mammootty did the cameo role in the film for me. Initially, I didn’t believe that Mammukka was acting, but I’m sure he did it for me.”
