Fans of the legendary Kannada actor, the late Dr Vishnuvardhan, have been acknowledged for creating a record by installing 51 giant cutouts of the actor on 18 September, 2022.

Forty members of the Dr Vishnu Sena Samiti, the fans association of Dr Vishnuvardhan headed by Veerakaputra M Srinivas, had installed 51 cutouts of the late actor — each measuring 40 feet by 8 feet — to mark his 50 years in Sandalwood.

The Asia Book of Records’ grand jury, which confirmed the act in February, has now issued a certificate acknowledging the feat and handed over a medal to the fans association.

Cut-out Jatre

The cut-outs were installed at Abhimaan Studio as part of the “Cut-out Jatre” (Cut-out Fair). It is where the late actor’s final rites were performed after his demise in December 2009.

“We submitted a request that the “Cut-out Jatre” be included in the Asia Book of Records on the same day (18 September). The agency not only conducted multi-level checks on our record, but also conducted a physical site inspection,” Veerakaputra told South First.

“Now all those procedures have been completed, and the “Cut-out Jatre has been officially certified as a record in the Asia Book of Records. The certificate and medal of the record reached us today (1 June),” he added.

The cutouts were quite popular with fans of the late actor when they were installed last year.

The organisers said that, according to the Bengaluru Police, an estimated 2.5 lakh people visited the “Cut-out Jatre“.

“We are proud that we were able to establish such a record in the name of a legendary actor.

“This record is a tribute of every die-hard fan of ‘Sahasa Simha’ Dr Vishnuvardhan, who is still very much alive amongst each one of us despite his physical absence for 13 years,” the fans association said.

The association thanked Anand Raj, who executed the plan to install the 51 cutouts, Raj Vishnu, who designed the giant cutouts, and writer Janardhan Rao, who was responsible for communicating with officials at the Asia Book of Records to consider their feat for inclusion.
