Rajnikanth Jailer poster

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming flick Jailer, which also features two other South Indian biggest stars — Mohanlal and Dr Shiva Rajkumar — wrapped up its shooting on Thursday, 1 June.

This most talked-about venture marks the Superstar’s first-ever collaboration with both Malayalam actor Mohanlal and Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar.

While Mohanlal did numerous films in other languages, Jailer will be the first multi-starrer movie in the other language for Shiva Rajkumar in his over three-decade-long acting career.

The first-look posters of these actors in the movie received a good reception from audiences. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer is Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s 169th movie.

Shooting wrapped

After shooting for over 100 days, the Jailer team finally wrapped up the shooting.

Akshay Thiagarajan, who is involved in the film’s production team, shared the behind-the-scenes picture from the set in March.

Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling the movie, posted on social media about the pack-up of the project.

Rajinikanth plays a retired jail warden named Muthuvel Pandian in Jailer. It also has Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff. Tamannah is playing the female lead.

The rest of the cast includes Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan and Vasanth Ravi. Shivakarthikeyan appears in a cameo role.

Release on 10 August

The movie, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is touted to be a suspense thriller with dark comedy.

It has so far been the director’s successful formula. Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music. He is working with Rajinikanth for the third time. His compositions in Petta (2019) and Darbar (2020) turned out to be successful.

The teaser, released two weeks ago, revealed the release date of Jailer — 10 August.
