Director-producer Shashank, in an exclusive interview with South First, shares his “eureka moment” that led him to bring out his latest venture Kousalya Supraja Rama.

The movie is jointly produced by Shashank under his banner Shashank Cinemass and actor-politician BC Patil under his banner Kourava Production House. It is releasing in theatres tomorrow, 28 July.

Legend has it that the renowned Greek mathematician Archimedes was so thrilled and excited with this discovery that he hopped out of the bath and ran onto the streets to tell the king, shouting “Eureka!”

Like Archimedes, everyone experiences their “eureka moments”.

But unlike him, the idea for Kousalya Supraja Rama struck Shashank while reading news articles on International Women’s Day (8 March) last year.

“After my previous two ventures did not do well at the box office, my close friends advised me to get back to my strength — romantic drama. This is when I was looking out for an apt subject,” the director said.

Asked how he stumbled upon a relevant topic, he replied, “I was in search of a universal topic that strikes a chord with the audience. While I was reading a few news articles on Women’s Day, the thought struck me and eventually led to the making of Kousalya Supraja Rama.”

Shashank stated that the tagline of Kousalya Supraja Rama — The Tale of A Real Man — explains who a real man is from a woman’s perspective.

“Male chauvinism has adverse effects not just concerning women but society at large. The film is a good mix of massage and entertainment. It is always a challenge to strike a perfect balance between entertainment and sending out a vital message when making a commercial venture,” he added.

About Mr and Mrs Darling Krishna

About the lead actor Darling Krishna, the filmmaker said, “After Taayige Takka Maga (2018) and Love 360 (2022), which were action dramas, I came across Darling Krishna who, too, has been doing my kind of genres. He immediately agreed to be a part of my film. However, I had no story to start with. The story of Kousalya Supraja Rama is an exclusive story written for the actor.”

Shashank further added, “It will give him a different image and also to his actor-wife Milana Nagaraj. Milana Nagaraj’s character will surprise everyone. It breaks away from the image of Nidhima — her popular character from the film series Love Mocktail (2020).”

Kousalya Supraja Rama also stars Brinda Acharya, who the director said has done exceptional work, in a key role.

“Anybody who watches the film can relate it to their personal experiences,” Shashank said, with a hint of confidence.
