Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Devarakonda chat about their upcoming movies

Ahead of the release of their movies, Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Deverakonda had a freewheeling chat with each other, the video of which went viral on the Internet.

While Dulquer won the hearts of the Telugu audience with his mesmerising performance in Mahanati (2018) and Sita Ramam (2022), Vijay enjoys a fan base in Malayalam, too, as his Arjun Reddy (2017) and Dear Comrade (2019) did well in theatres across Kerala.

Dulquer’s most hyped project King of Kotha is releasing on 24 August and Vijay’s much-awaited Kushi is hitting the screens on 1 September.

A friendly chat

In the video, posted online as part of the promotion of their forthcoming films, both actors were seen cracking jokes about their previous works.

Vijay pointed out they were both going in a reverse direction as regards success rate.

Well, his previous movie Liger (2022), helmed by director Puri Jagannadh, proved to be a box office dud.

“I hope your action film does better than mine,” Vijay Deverakonda told Dulquer.

To this, the Malayalam star replied: “I hope your love story blows up like mine.”

Sita Ramam was a tremendous hit and earned around ₹91.40 crore at the box office.

On a funny note, the Telugu actor stated that he watched Dulquer’s previous film by downloading them from a Torrent site.

In the video, Dulquer revealed that people like to see him clean-shaven in romantic films and often ask him why he’s not doing action films.

“As soon as people think I’m comfortable in something, I want to quickly get out of that mould. I think that’s the only way to keep it interesting for us and for them.”

The Malayalam actor also noted that he isn’t a tough guy as seen in King of Kotha.

“I give that expression of being a tough person while doing serious characters, but in reality, I’m not as loud as the characters I play,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda said that he faced many questions regarding his views and plans for marriage.

When the Telugu actor enquired Dulquer if there’s a sequel to King of Kotha, the latter replied: “It’s possible!”

On hearing this, Vijay wondered why not merge two different characters from different movies.

Large-scale movies

Dulquer Salmaan opined that this is a good time for the film industry as there are many hits. After Covid, audiences watched films via OTT platforms, but now, they are visiting theatres.

“It’s time we gave them a large-scale film with ‘paisa vasool’ elements,” he felt.

The promotional activities of King of Kotha were organised in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The film will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.

Meanwhile, Kushi is a Telugu romantic comedy film written and directed by Shiva Nirvana.

It is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and features Vijay Deverakonda alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
