Actor Navdeep

In a shocking development into the recently busted drug racket, the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau sleuths on Tuesday, 19 September, raided the house of Tollywood actor Navdeep in Hyderabad.

However, the actor was not present while the sleuths conducted searches at his home.

It may be recalled that City Police Commissioner CV Anand recently read out a list of accused where Navdeep’s name was also mentioned.

The recent drug scandal shook the entire Tollywood. Names of several producers and financiers surfaced when the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau raided a service apartment named Fresh Living near Madhapur.

The city top cop said Navdeep was absconding and the police launched a hunt to arrest him.

Soon after the top cop’s video trended on Twitter, actor Navdeep put up a tweet stating, “That’s not me gentlemen, I am right here .. plz clarity thanks.”

Anticipatory bail filed

Later, people thought Navdeep’s name was misconstrued by the mainstream media. It was found that Navdeep filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Telangana High Court.

Tuesday’s fresh development yet again put the actor in the spotlight. The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau is likely to file a counter against Navdeep’s bail petition.

The Bureau also claimed that it had proper evidence to establish that Navdeep was involved in drug trafficking and illegal substance use.

The police arrested three Nigerian nationals from Bengaluru following the leads from the earlier raid in Madhapur in the city.

The arrested also include Tollywood film producer Ravi Uppalapati, director Anugu Sushanth Reddy, and former Mahbubnagar MP Dande Vittal Rao’s son Deverakonda Suresh Rao.

It may be recalled that Navdeep’s name cropped up when a massive drug racket was busted in Tollywood in 2017.

The actor was among 15 other celebs who were questioned by the sleuths of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Later, the case was later taken up by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
