One of Tamil cinema’s legendary directors, Bala, lodged a complaint with the Chennai police seeking action against a person who has been impersonating him on Instagram.

In a statement issued by his office on Tuesday, 19 September, Bala clarified that he was not on Instagram.

The director said that an imposter opened an account in his name on Instagram and was trying to con people by putting out pictures and information through the handle — Bala Subramanian Palanisamy.

The director also alleged that the imposter was indulging in several illegal activities. “This unidentified person has been messaging young women interested in acting and promising them films. He has also been asking them to send him their pictures,” Bala added.
