In a development that has sent shock waves across the Tamil film industry, the elder daughter of well-known actor, music composer and producer Vijay Antony allegedly died by suicide at their residence in Chennai on Tuesday, 19 September.
The 16-year-old was studying standard 12 and is believed to have been battling stress in recent times.
Unconfirmed reports say that the girl retired for the night at around 11 PM on Monday, 18 September was found dead by her father in the early morning hours of 19 September.
She was rushed to the Kauvery Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
The body of the girl has been sent to the Omandurar government hospital for post-mortem. The police launched an investigation.
The news of the demise of the child has plunged the Tamil film industry into shock and gloom.
Several top stars and film industry professionals have expressed their condolences to the bereaved actor and his family.
