Hanu-Man got less theatres

Renowned Telugu producer Dil Raju is facing criticism on social media for ignoring the question of why the pan-Indian superhero film Hanu-Man starring Teja Sajja has been allocated fewer theatres.

Interestingly, 90 percent of theatres in Hyderabad have been allocated to Mahesh Babu-starrer Guntur Kaaram.

On Thursday, 4 January, producer Dil Raju held a press meet to announce that the makers of Ravi Teja-starrer Eagle agreed to postpone their film to February due to stiff competition on the Sankranthi day.

However, he remained tight-lipped when the media wondered why only a few theatres were allocated to Hanu-Man.

Surprisingly, Dil Raju — a Nizam distributor himself — appealed to the media not to divert the topic.

“No no, please don’t raise the topic. The issue is being diverted. Let’s stick to one point,” he asserted.

It has been alleged that though Hanu-Man was the first to be scheduled for release for Sankranthi, the pan-India film got a mere five screens in Hyderabad and failed to get even a single screen in Visakhapatnam.

Netizens found fault with the system by terming it cruel.

It is learnt that over 90 percent of the screens in major cities across the two Telugu states were allocated to Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram.

Hanu-Man producer Niranjan Reddy held a press meet to express his grievances. He even urged that at least 20 out of 100 screens should be allotted to his movie.

While there are 76 single screens in Hyderabad city, he raised objections over Guntur Kaaram taking more than 70 screens.
